Detailed description of each solution
Now that you've identified possible solutions to your problem, let's learn how to implement them!
Follow the instructions below to resolve input-related issues.
1. Try a different HDMI port
Sometimes the TV port can be damaged and stop working. This will prevent your TV from recognizing the input source.
So it's best to try connecting the source device to a different HDMI port and see if that works.
Disconnect the external device from the TV's original HDMI port (note which port it uses for future reference), then connect it to a different port. Then change the input on the Vizio TV to reveal the new HDMI port.
If you succeed, you have found the culprit and you can start flashing the external device. Otherwise, move to the next recommended solution.
2. Disconnect all cables and perform a soft reset
Simple hardware failures can cause the Vizio TV to have difficulty recognizing external input sources or switching inputs.
Therefore, turning off all connected devices and restarting the TV may be the best course of action to resolve this issue.
step 1:Turn off your Vizio TV before disconnecting as many cables as possible (eg HDMI, power cable, VGA, etc.).
Step 2:After 30 seconds, reconnect all cables to the TV.
Step 3:Turn on the TV and check if it can display your input source.
use:If your source device has a USB power cable (eg Roku, Fire Stick, Chromecast), remember to use a USB power adapter to connect it to a wall outlet and not to the USB port on the TV. Using the TV to power the source device may result in the TV not recognizing it due to insufficient power.
3. Try another device or original cable
If you doubt that your TV port is working properly, it would be a good idea to check its functionality by connecting another source device or cable. Sometimes your source device or cable may be damaged, causing your TV not to recognize the connected source device.
step 1:Disconnect the source device and/or cable from the TV.
Step 2:Connect other source devices and cables to the TV and see the results.
If another source device or cable works with your TV, then you know the culprit is the original plug-in you're using.
4. There may be a problem with the input button on the remote control
If you're not sure how to change inputs on your Vizio TV without a remote, skip to the last section to learn how. If you can successfully change the input using this method, the problem could be a broken input button on the remote.
Try one of the following three troubleshooting methods.
1. Follow the steps below to clean the inside of the remote control.
- Before removing the batteries, remove the battery holder cover on the back of the remote control.
- If you don't see any screws on the battery holder, you should be able to open the remote control by sliding and turning a thin, sturdy object (eg, flat screwdriver, wine opener, metal nail file, etc.). Horizontal remote control slot.
- Separate the rubber keyboard on the remote from the case. Observe the conductive contacts on the rubber keyboard to ensure that the input key points are intact. Then wash the entire rubber keyboard thoroughly with mild soap and water. After washing and rinsing, make sure the keyboard is completely dry.
- Carefully clean the keyboard keys and contacts with isopropyl alcohol and a cotton ball. Then dry the keyboard with a clean paper towel.
- Next, it's time to clean the board with isopropyl alcohol and a clean cotton ball before drying.
- Reassemble the remote, pushing the housing to keep everything in place.
- Put a new battery in the battery holder, replace the battery holder cover and see the result.
Check out the video below that shows how to clean the inside of the remote control.
